What is the Palms Foundation of Sebring?
The Palms Foundation of Sebring has been established to serve the needs of older adults residing at the Palms of Sebring, a three levels of care retirement community. Plus Seniors in Highlands County that need assistance.



Why was it established?
The Board of Trustees of The Palms of Sebring acted to request a Board of Founders to establish the Palms Foundation for charitable purposes.



Who were the Founders?
The late Olin J. Mason, Raymond Peters and John C. Eller were asked to create the Foundation in 1990, and they served as Founders until the first Annual Meeting of the members was conducted.



How was it organized?
The Foundation sought members who were supportive of its purposes. The members elected a Board of Directors composed of nine members. The organization continues today in the same fashion.



Who serves on the
Board of Directors?

The Board of Directors are composed of current members-at-large who are permanent residents of Highlands County.



Does it meet charitable guideline regulations?
The Palms Foundation was chartered by the State of Florida and is a not-for-profit organization corporation. It is tax exempt under Section 501(c) 3 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. All contributions to The Palms Foundation are tax deductible.



How can I become a member?
Individuals, churches, corporations, and organizations can be members of The Palms Foundation simply by contributing $100.00 or more annually.



When do the members meet?
Members of The Palms Foundation are invited to meet once annually. At that annual meeting, business and progress reports are givin, as well as a complete financial report. The Board of Directors has four scheduled meetings each year. The Executive Committee meets monthly or as needed.



How does The Foundation
help older adults?

The Palms Foundation receives gifts into the Benevolent Fund through various fundraising events each year. These funds go to assist older adults who have run out of money, or otherwise have financial needs. An Endowment Fund has been created to support general purposes of the Foundation.




How may I help?
There are a number of ways to help provide for residents of The Palms of Sebring:


* Become a member of The Foundation by contributing $100.00 or more annually.

* Give a gift " In Memory of" or " In Honor Of" a family member or a friend. There are two major fundraising events which provide the opportunity to do this: "The Festival of Lights" during the Christmas holiday and the " Wall of Honor" between Mother's Day and Father's Day. * Remember The Foundation in your will.

* You may give stocks, bonds or personal property to The Foundation.

* Become a volunteer to assist in the work of The Foundation.

* Pray for the success of The Foundation and encourage others to give their support.





What are the goals of
The Foundation?


* To assist older adults who have financial needs.

* To underwrite special projects sponored by The Foundation in assisting older adults.

* To help increase the Endowment Fund, which ultimately supports The Foundation's purposes.

* To carry out other charitable work as approved by the Board of Directors.
